Mum arrested for letting children play outside
A MOTHER in the US has spent the night in jail after she was arrested for allowing her children to play outside unsupervised.
Texas mum Tammy Cooper was arrested for child endangerment after a neighbour saw her children riding their scooters around a cul-de-sac and called police.
Ms Cooper, who was arrested for child endangerment, insists she was watching her children from a lawn chair in her front yard.
According to Ms Cooper a police man arrived saying she was under arrest.
“I went out there to see what he was here for and he said, ‘Ma’am, we’re here for you.’ I said, ‘Oh really? Why?’ He proceeded to tell me he had received a call from one of my neighbors that my kids were riding their scooters unsupervised,” Cooper told KRPC.
She says police also interrogated her children.
“My daughter had him [the police officer] around the leg saying, “Please, please don’t take my mom to jail. Please, she didn’t do anything wrong’”.
She is now suing the La Porte Police Department.

Wow wow Wubzy! Then why weren’t MY folks arrested when I was a kid? I lived on a Cul-De-Sac as well and my parents were ALWAYS indoors by 4:00 so that supper could be ready at 6 P.M.! If we were playing outside there was rarely ever anyone outside to watch us! My folks often worked from home during the day and we’d be shuffled out the front door on beautiful sunny days where we’d either be playing street hockey or soccer or riding our bikes up and down the street and without adult super vision! Mothers on my childhood street never stepped foot outside their front doors preferring instead to stay inside and do house work and laundry so why weren’t they and my folks and my aunt and uncle all tossed in the slammer? They never stepped foot outside to watch us! Even to this day my younger siblings and nieces and nephews play outside unsupervised while mom and dad sit in the kitchen working from home.

Someone PLEASE explain to me WHY this poor woman was arrested! I mean I grew up learning to fend for myself because both my parents worked both at the office and at home and I was often times left to my own devices and I turned out just fine and neither my aunt,uncle or parents were arrested for allowing us to be outside by ourselves even after all our friends on our street were called in for supper,bath,tooth brushing,story time and bed.

I'm sorry but this is laughable I mean back when I was a kid I got the same treatment you did.On nice sunny days me and my brother would be told to go outside and play.Only difference is I didn't live in a cul-de-sac for most of my childhood we live in rural community areas and me and my brother had bikes and pellet guns.So it wasn't uncommon for me and my brother to go outside around 9am and be called in at 5 or 6pm I mean we would go unsupervised for 6+ hours and no one ever called the law.
I guess this just proves how scared our society has become about children having freedom.I mean it's very stupid to think in an area like a cul-de-sac there be no worry about that kind of stuff because there are eyes and ears everywhere.I mean the same thing would have happened if the kid was in the house because they'd be unsupervised in their room.It's almost like they want us to "big brother" the kids so we can see everything they do and that is so stupid.
